Urbana Park District workers have removed the tree that fell on the Crystal Lake Park playground during last week's storms and did a complete safety inspection of the playground equipment.
After inspection, workers discovered that only the swings were damaged and needed to be replaced. The 2 - 5-year-old section and the 5 - 12-year-old section of the playground is undamaged and open for kids to use.
The damaged swings are closed, and replacement equipment is on the way.
The park district will update the public when the Crystal Lake Park swings are repaired and open.
For reference, the photo below shows the aftermath of the storm damage.
But, the tree and limbs are gone now and kids are free to play on the open sections of the playground.
