Urbana Park District is inviting teens to join local artist Paula McCarty as she teaches portrait painting on Zoom.

The free painting class is Saturday, February 6, from 10 – 11:30 a.m.

“People of all ages enjoy art and are looking for an outlet or ways to sharpen their artistic skills. Participants enjoyed the last teen virtual painting class we offered and we are excited to do it again,” said Chelsea Prahl, Environmental Education Coordinator.

Prahl will drop off the painting kit and supplies to those who live in the Urbana-Champaign area.

There is no need to be a painting expert to sign up. “We welcome all skill levels to join. During the program, it is up to the participants how much they would like to share or engage,” Prahl explained.

While the Zoom painting session is free, registration is needed to purchase and deliver supplies.

Call (217) 367-1544, or sign up online.

There are only 10 slots open and the deadline to register is February 1.

“We look forward to connecting teens to a local artist and provide them an opportunity to create new works of art special to them,” Prahl concluded.
