People who love bird watching or want to learn more about birds and how to identify them have two great programs to join in February at Urbana Park District

On Saturday, February 10, from 8 - 10 a.m. (rain date February 17), Urbana Park District will put on a Birding Basics class. People will learn about native and migratory birds in the area. Then participants will go on a hike through Busey Woods to practice spotting and identifying birds.

Sign up for Birding Basics by January 28, and get an early-bird discount - $5 for residents and $8 for non-residents. People can sign up until February 8.

Everyone can participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count, February 16 - 19. Be a citizen scientist and identify and count the birds in their own back yard. Share the findings online to gbbc.birdcount.org/. The park district is also eager to see what people find in nature. Share birding discoveries on social media to the Anita Purves Nature Center Facebook Page and tag it #GBBC #BirdCount #UrbanaParks.

Call Anita Purves Nature at (217) 384-4062 for more information about birding. Everyone is welcome to park district birding programs in February!
