Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center (UIAC) will open for a limited schedule beginning August 3. The daily schedule is as follows:

3:30 – 4:30 PM                UHS Swim Team
4:45 – 8:30 PM                Tiger Shark Swim Team
6 – 6:30 PM                     Water Aerobics

“Saturday and Sunday will be private rental only,” said Leslie Radice, Aquatics Manager. “We will offer open swim when park district administration deems it appropriate.”

Radice wants lap swimmers to know they will have to observe safety protocols when coming to the pool. “Lap swimmers need to sign up for a 45-minute time slot so we can insure proper social distancing in swim lanes. Go to, click ‘register online’ and in the search area enter ‘lap swim.’”

Swimmers will need to sign up for time slots each week.

Staff will be giving UIAC a deep clean daily. Radice commented, “We are dedicated to making sure the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center follows all CDC COVID-19 cleaning standards. Staff will be cleaning the locker rooms and high touch points at least every hour. During the times where we do not offer scheduled swims, staff will be deep cleaning the facility, including but not limited to the pool deck, locker rooms, front foyer, and stairwells.”

To keep patrons safe, the suitmates, water fountains, lockers and facility-provided swimming equipment is not available.

“We will track the latest public health news and guidelines. We plan to open more pool features and allow more people to come to the pool as it becomes safer,” Radice said.

Due to the pandemic, Urbana Park District will extend pool membership expiration dates.
