The park district recently received the honor of the American Planning Association, Illinois Chapter’s Strategic Plan Award which “recognizes a plan targeted for a specific area of the community with strategic actions designed to produce change and improvement.”
“This plan process included 977 direct ideas or thoughts shared by community members, and many other conversations grew from there,” notes Park Planner, Kara Dudek. “This included those who answered the questionnaire, jotted down answers on whiteboards, participated in interviews, listened in at presentations, or attended focus group sessions, all throughout 2018 and 2019.”
Dudek extends “a huge thank you to everyone who helped make this plan ‘Uniquely Urbana’ including Park District Board of Commissioners, staff, plan steering committee, and Urbana Park District Citizen Advisory Committee.”
The park district looks forward to continuing to implement the four planning pillars:
