These days, it is very easy to keep track of steps, food intake, amount of exercise and even the quality of sleep. We can track those health statistics simply by wearing a watch.

But, setting that technology up can be tricky. With that in mind, Urbana Park District is offering a free Wellness Wearables Workshop on Wednesday, November 20, from 5:30 – 7 p.m., at Phillips Recreation Center.

“During the first half of the workshop, we’ll teach people how to use popular step tracking apps like Apple Health and Google Fit,” said Elsie Hedgspeth, Outreach and Wellness Manager. “We will also teach people how to track food and water intake and how to create personal goals.”

During the second half of the workshop, people will learn about popular wearables, such as Fitbit and Garmin.

“These devices are amazing,” Hedgspeth added. “They can track just about every movement.”

After the workshop, Hedgspeth and others will be on hand to answer questions and have one-on-one time to set up the fitness apps.

The workshop is free, but please call Urbana Park District at (217) 367-1544 to let Hedgspeth know you’re coming.

“It is easy and fun to track personal fitness and try to achieve fitness goals. We hope many take advantage of this free workshop November 20, to take the next step in living healthy,” Hedgspeth said.
