About the Park:

Acres: 60

Weaver Park is undergoing development that was first acquired with the assistance of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources in 2002. The long range plan calls for a combination of natural areas, athletic fields and trails to support mixed use.

A grassy expanse to the south is available for a variety of field activities, while the rest of the park is being restored to woodland, savanna, native grass, prairie, and wetland natural areas. An unpaved loop path winds through these many habitats. A constructed wetland and retention basin collects stormwater from the surrounding 300+ acre watershed, protects residential areas to the east from flooding, and provides important habitat for wetland and marsh species. Parking is available at Prairie Park adjacent to Prairie School to the south. See an aerial site map.
